Anhart Global Network is a international group of autonomous community-based organizations interconnected in their local quest to redefine social development. With roots tracing back to 1988 in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania, Anhart has grown into a leader in innovative, community-driven development with a focus on affordable housing, sustainable villages, emergent health and social enterprise.
Anhart offers an alternative to alternative communities, focusing on building scalable, self-sustaining, community-based organizations through a blend of self-sustaining non-profits and community contribution companies (CCCs) that form private-public collaboratives. Our collective mission is to empower communities to address local and global social and environmental challenges, achieve financial independence, pay forward social and financial benefits, and foster an appreciation of the triple bottom line of people, place and profit through the development of social capital.
Anhart’s innovative approach integrates principles from sociological modeling of emergence and multi-scale competency architecture to create community applications of neural networks where localized actions emerge to provide outcomes that are both greater than and different from the simple addition of the individual parts. These natural and universal properties accessible to people everywhere allow Anhart to foster community development champions engage their neighborhoods to understand felt needs and the find collaborative ways to create social structures that improve the quality of life for all persons.
In Canada, Anhart is registered extra-provincially in all 10 provinces and three territories for the development of affordable housing and social enterprise with a goal to create 20,000 homes in the 20 years. Anhart has administrative offices in Tanzania and Philippines. In the remaining regions, Anhart develops sustainable villages through pay forward micro credit, permaculture farms, and the development of village clinics, pharmacies, and schools.
