Creating privately developed affordable housing across Canada

Our history of providing housing began in 2000, when a small group of philanthropists bought and renovated two SROs in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, the Jubilee Rooms and the Dodson Hotel. Over the following years, we did capital repairs on these buildings and took on operational contracts with other private building owners. We also purchased units in new buildings in the Downtown Eastside from two developers, to operate as affordable rental housing.

In 2013, the Jubilee and the Dodson were gifted to us by the original group of social impact investors. The board of Anhart Community Housing decided to sell the Jubilee, a century-old building requiring extensive capital upgrades, in 2017. With approximately $10 million in equity, Anhart began an ambitious plan to build 20,000 units of affordable housing across Canada by 2030.

This portfolio shows our existing housing and our projects in development.
